The Wellsboro Wrestling team suffered a 48-15 non-league loss to Sugar Valley Rural Charter on Monday, December 19.
The Phoenix won seven matches by pin fall (121, 127, 133, 139, 189, 215, 285) and scored decisions at 145 lbs. and 160 lbs.
Wellsboro's three wins came at 114 lbs. by forfeit for sophomore Alec Magli, at 152 lbs. sophomore Jacob Dean scored a 46 second pin over Alex Sycz, and sophomore Ryder Bowen won a 6-5 decision at 172 lbs. against Cayden Weaver.
Sugar Valley also won the Junior High match, defeating the Hornets 54-18. Wellsboro's wins were registered by Bradyn Fenstermacher (108 lbs.), Jayden Dumm (190 lbs.), and Conner Bacon (210 lbs.), all via forfeit.
The loss drops the Hornets' record to 1-2 (1-1 NTL). The team hosts rival North Penn-Liberty later this evening.
