Last season Troy catcher Caitlyn Knapp blossomed into one of the best catcher's in the district. Recently, Knapp decided that she'll be taking her talents to Division-II College of Saint Rose after she graduates.
"I have always worried about making a decision for a school, but now that I have I couldn't be happier," said Knapp. "I got in contact with the head coach so he could see me play, and I went to visit."
Originally, Knapp was looking for something different than the Albany, N.Y. based school.
"I had always wanted to play for a big school, but once I saw the campus at Saint Rose I realized that that was where I wanted to be," she said.
Knapp will continue to play her travel schedule, along with suiting up for the Trojans this spring.
This past spring Knapp hit .377 with seven home runs, and a team high 25-RBI to go with 22 runs scored. She was also the Defensive Player of the Year from behind the plate, with a .941 fielding percentage.
Troy came close to knocking off eventual district champions, South Williamsport, in the district semi-final, and hope to continue that momentum as they go into the softball season this March.
"Last year we all got in tune with each other, and I think, if we can make that happen again, then we can make it far this year," remarked Knapp.
