Northeast Bradford handed the Wellsboro Girls Basketball team their first loss of the season, 54-43, in NTL cross-over action on Friday, December 13.
The Lady Panthers jumped out to a commanding 30-12 first half lead. Wellsboro managed to outscore NEB 16-14 in the 3rd and 15-10 in the 4th, however couldn't close the gap any further.
Leah Beebe led all scorers with 20 points. Becca VandeMark and Lilah Hughes added 10 and 11 points, respectively for NEB.
Senior Chloe Brandenburg and freshman Teagan Novinger led the Lady Hornets with 19 points and 14 points, respectively. Senior Paige Logsdon added 8 points and freshman Adelyn Frantz rounded out the scoring with 2 points. Logsdon grabbed 16 boards and made 4 steals, Novinger pulled in 11 rebounds for a double-double, and junior Lily Wagner finished with 6 rebounds.
Northeast Bradford also won the JV game, 43-22. Junior Sophia Yoder had 8 points to lead Wellsboro. Freshman Kate Bryant also added 6 points.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 2-1 (0-1 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action Wednesday evening at Sayre.
