Hornets Steamroll Wyalusing In Season Opener

Junior Gabe Cuneo scored a hat trick to help lead the Wellsboro Varsity Boys Soccer team to an 11-0 blowout over Wyalusing Saturday in the return of head coach John Shaffer.

The Hornets scored six times in the first half and then added five more goals in the second while holding the Rams to just 2 shots on goal, both of which were cleaned up by junior Camden Bryant.

In addition to Cuneo's hat trick senior Jacob Smith added a pair of goals while senior Mason Brill, sophomore James Doughtie, sophomore Liam Stevens, senior Coen Tennis, senior Kayden Pearson, and junior Stephen Poirier all scored.

Wellsboro out shot Wyalusing 16-2 and took 17 corner kicks.

Wellsboro (1-0, 1-0 NTL), hosts Troy on Tuesday.
