Lady Hornets Suffer 3-0 Loss To Towanda

Towanda handed the Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team their first loss of the season, sweeping the Lady Hornets 3-0 on Thursday.

The first set was tightly contested with the Lady Knights edging Wellsboro, 26-24. Towanda then went on to take set two, 25-19, then won the third set, 25-15.

Senior Ellie Largey led the Lady Hornets with 7 points, 3 aces and 11 assists while junior Peyton Keane had 8 kills and 8 digs. Junior Adelyn Frantz made 6 kills and a block, junior Jillian Mickey had 9 assists, 6 points and an ace, junior Kendall Sweet had 8 digs and 5 kills, and senior Madison Cruttenden recorded 10 digs and scored 6 points (2 aces).

Sophomore Gena Fleming added 3 blocks and junior Teagan Novinger also recorded a block.

Towanda also swept Wellsboro in the JV game, winning 25-20 and 25-18 to drop the JV team to 1-1.

The Lady Hornets (1-1, 1-1 NTL Large School Division) are back in action Saturday at Tunkhannock for a tournament.
