Lady Hornets Sweep Athens for 4th Straight Win

The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team ran their win streak to four game following a 3-0 sweep of Athens at home on Thursday night.

The Lady Hornets took the first set 25-17, edged the Lady Wildcats 25-22 in set two, then closed the game out with a 25-19 third set win.

Junior Jillian Mickey scored 12 points on 3 aces to go along with 17 assists and 5 digs to lead Wellsboro, while junior Adelyn Frantz and sophomore Gena Fleming added 7 kills apiece. Junior Peyton Keane added 6 kills, 6 points (1 ace) and 9 digs, senior Ellie Largey had 13 assists, senior Madison Cruttenden added 15 digs and 3 assists, and junior Kendall Sweet had 9 points on 2 aces with a block.

Frantz also had a block.

Wellsboro's JV team also swept Athens to start the evening. They held on to win the first set 25-23 then took the second set, 25-15. The win is their third straight (4-1).

The Lady Hornets improve to 5-1 (5-1 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action Monday night for a non-league game at Williamsport.
