Sophomore Haylie Smith scored the game's only goal to knock off rival North Penn-Mansfield and sweep the season series on Tuesday afternoon.

Smith converted a pass from senior Megan Newruck with just over 22 minutes left in the first half.

"Credit to North Penn-Mansfield. They are a much-improved team and they gave us everything we could ask for tonight," head coach Michael Reese said. "Their surface has always been a difficult one to play on, so I was proud of how well we adapted and found a way to get the win. We had a great finish from Haylie on a nice assist from Megan, and Jadyn came up with another shutout in goal. It wasn't our easiest night, but our girls stayed composed, adjusted to the conditions and found a way to win."

Wellsboro took 7 shots on goal to Mansfield's three and had a slight 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Senior Jadyn Dunlap saved all three of the Lady Tigers' shots for her 22nd career shutout.

The Lady Hornets improve to 9-2-1 (8-0-1 NTL). The team is back in action Saturday morning at Jersey Shore for a non-league contest.
