The Wellsboro Varsity girls soccer team fell to Northeast Bradford at home tonight, 2-1.
Northeast Bradford scored the first two goals of the game. Their first came in the 16th minute as Molly Uhouse quickly turned the ball from at the top of the box and shot from the top corner of the box. Their second followed seven minutes later as Makayla Holbert scored right in front of the Wellsboro goal.
Wellsboro's lone goal of the game came in the 35th minutes as Freshman Sarah Ingerick took a very long shot from the top corner of the box.
Both teams were held scoreless in the second half.
Sophomore Meghan Bodine recorded 3 saves on the night.
"We dominated the field the opening 10 minutes of the game, then sat back on our heels and allowed two goals back to back," said head coach Carolyn Mitchell. "Sarah's goal really turned the game around and got us pressuring the ball with more intensity.
"The ball barely crossed into our defensive half during the second half and we were simply unable to finish the many scoring opportunities," concluded Mitchell.
The JV game finished in a scoreless tie.
With the loss the Hornets fall to 2-3-1 overall (2-3-1 NTL). The team will be back in action on Friday, September 21 as they travel to Sayre.
