2021-22 District IV Swimming Information

This year we will return to 2019-20 swimming events format, with both girl and boy swimmers competing on each day. Events on Wednesday will start with the 200 yard medley relay, the 100 yard butterfly, and conclude with the 200 yard freestyle relay. On Thursday, the events start with the 100 yard freestyle and conclude with the 400 yard freestyle relay. (We will stay with this format unless Williamsport School District would mandate that we limit the number of competitors each day).

Your swimmers must meet these time standards in a PIAA OFFICIATED MEET during the 2021-2022 season in order to compete at the district meet. Each individual event will be limited to 16 swimmers (2 heats) except for the 50 and 100 yard freestyle - 24 swimmers (3 heats). Relays will be limited to 2 heats. The second attachment is a comparison of previous years from 2018-2020 showing previous qualifying times, 1st-last place times, etc. for a reference for coaches and swimmers.

Once swimmers with automatic times are seeded in each event, the remaining slots will be filled based on the top times. The top 25/30 times per event will be listed on the District IV website. IMPORTANT - COACHES, you MUST SUBMIT your meet results within 7 DAYS of your scheduled meet. Once the date passes the results will not be included in the database.

  2. Include any independent swimmers
  3. Home team submits results, but visiting teams could also send their results

Williamsport High School has an 8 lane pool with electronic timing (Colorado System).

Team Entries

Each team shall be permitted to enter a maximum of four (4) entries in an individual event, and one (1) relay team in a relay event, providing the swimmers meet the qualifying restrictions. Please include a roster of all male and female swimmers in Hy-Tek. It is also important that coaches include male and female divers on your roster in Hy-Tek so their points they score are included in the final meet score. This will also enter them in the State Meet if they qualify.

Schools that do not sponsor swimming may not enter relay teams.

Qualifying Times

Automatic qualifying time standards must be met by February 25, 2022 in order to compete. All qualifying times must be met in PIAA-sanctioned meets (i.e. not YMCA, US Swim, etc.). Please indicate if times were met in a 25-meter pool, and please convert times to the 25-yard standard.

In the event of inclement weather on Wednesday or Thursday evening the tentative makeup for swimming will be announced with dates, location, and times on the district 4 website( Coaches will also be notified by email of cancellation of the scheduled dates.
