The Wellsboro Varsity volleyball team dropped a match to rival Mansfield last night, 1-3.
The Hornets dropped the first set 18-25, but rallied to take the second set 25-23. Mansfield would go on to win the final two sets to claim the victory.
Senior Hannah Zuchowski led the team with 18 kills and 22 digs. Senior Mackenzie Marple recorded 17 assists, 8 kills, and 11 points. Junior Alex Kurtz had 11 points and 14 assists, and Junior Kate Straniere added 24 digs in the loss.
In JV action, the Hornets improved to 6-1 as they beat Mansfield in 2 sets (25-22, 25-15).
With the loss, the Hornets fall to 4-3 overall (3-2 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Thursday, September 27 as they host Cowanesque Valley.
