Seven members of the Wellsboro boys and girls track team punched their ticket to the PIAA State Meet next weekend at Shippensburg University.
Junior Jordan Jackson was the only member of the boys team to qualify for states, but did so in two events. Jackson finished second in both the 800m and 1600m runs with times of 1:58.16 and 4:22.88, respectively.
For the girls, both the 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams qualified for states. The 4x100m team of Seniors Mikayla Palmer-Bacon, Taylor Acorn, Raina Rogers, and Freshman Lauren Bleggi finished second with a time of 49.94. In the 4x400m race, the Hornets finished fourth overall, but their time of 4:08.53 was fast enough to qualify for states. The 4x400m team consisted of Acorn, Rogers, Becky Chambers, and Mackenzie Marple.
Acorn and Rogers also qualified for states in individual events. Acorn took home the gold medal in the 300m hurdles with a time of 45.8 in only the second time she has participated in the event. Rogers also qualified in the 400m run with a second place finish of 58.98.
WellsboroAthletics.com would like to congratulate all seven athletes on qualifying for states and wish them the best of luck next weekend.
