The Wellsboro girls track team picked up their first win of the 2012 season as they defeated Wyalusing, 88-62. Taylor Acorn had 4 first place finishes to lead the girls. She placed first in the 100m in 13.00, 200m in 26.90, 400m relay in 53.43, and 1600m relay in 4:18.13.
Raina Rogers was also a part of both those relays plus had a first place finish in the 400m in 61.11 and a second in high jump at 4' 8". Mackenzie Marple won the 100 hurdles in 17.89, and she had three second place finishes: javelin at 103'9, 300 hurdles in 51.21, and triple jump at 31' 6.5".
"It was a good first meet for us," said head coach Jeff Zuchowski. "It gave all of our new athletes an opportunity to gain some experience."
Charlotte Worthington won the 1600m in 5:57 and the 3200m in 13:16. Kimberly Acorn won the triple jump at 32' 0" and took second in long jump at 14' 8.5". She was also part of the winning 1600m relay team with Taylor, Raina, and Becky Chambers.
Mikayla Palmer-Bacon ran with Taylor, Raina, and Sarah Kramer in the winning 400m relay and took second in the 100m (13.33) and the 200m (28.15). Sherri Hovis took a first in discus at 78' 11" and a second in shot at 26' 11".
The team will be back in action next Tuesday, April 10, as they travel to Towanda.
