The Wellsboro Varsity boys basketball team used a 27 point third quarter to defeat the Williamson Warriors, 62-42 on Wednesday night.
The Hornets held an 8-3 lead after the first quarter and was up 21-18 at the half before they turned up the heat in the second half to earn their fifth consecutive victory.
Three Hornets scored in double figures on the night, led by Junior Michael Pietropola with 22. Senior Joey Doganiero scored 17, and Junior Kieron Smethers scored 15. Rounding out the scoring was Senior Dylan Prough with 8 points.
In the J.V. game the Hornets lost 19-12.
With the win, the Varsity team improves to 11-4 (4-1 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Saturday, January 25 as they travel to Liberty for a 1:00 p.m. start.
