The Wellsboro Cross Country teams traveled to Mansfield to take on their rivals along with Northeast Bradford and Cowanesque Valley on Tuesday, September 1.
The Lady Hornets lost 26-29 to Northeast Bradford and beat Mansfield 20-37 and CV 20-35 to pick up two NTL wins. Freshman Anna Bleggi was the team's top finished in 3rd with a time of 21:17. Junior Jada Jackson was 6th (21:39), Junior Jordyn Coffee was 7th (21:53), Junior Camryn Keane was 8th (22:01), Senior Annie Sweeney was 9th (22:11), Junior Samantha Bailey was 13th (22:32), Senior Caitlynn Butler was 27th (26:30), and Freshman Aiyana Hazlett was 30th (27:23).
On the boys side the Hornets beat Mansfield 15-50 and lost 26-30 to CV and 15-50 to NEB. Sophomore Bryon Callahan was the top finisher in 14th in 19:14. Sophomore Alden Weiner was 15th (19:17), Sophomore Joey Messmer was 16th (19:34), Freshman Connor Brought was 18th (20:08), Senior Dalton Messmer was 25th (21:44), Freshman Kyle Wilson was 26th (21:55), Freshman Logan Morral was 30th (25:29), and Freshman Noah Smith was 31st (29:26).
In the MIddle School race, the Lady Hornets beat Mansfield and NEB 15-50 but fell to CV 23-32. The boys beat Mansfield and CV 15-50 and lost 19-43 to NEB.
The boys improve to 2-7 (1-6 NTL) and the girls are now 8-1 (6-1 NTL). The teams will be back in action on Thursday, September 2 as they host Northern Potter.
