The Wellsboro Varsity girls basketball team held Wyalusing to 12 second half points to rally for a 35-32 win Tuesday night.
The Lady Hornets held a 9-4 lead after the first quarter, but Wyalusing scored 16 points in the second half to Wellsboro's 10 to take a 20-19 lead into halftime. The Wellsboro defense stepped up in the second half to hold the Lady Rams to only 12 points while scoring 16 points to pick up the NTL Division 1 win.
Sophomore Sarah Ingerick led the Lady Hornets on the night 15 points and 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season and Junior Jordan Butters finished with 13 points. Sophomore Jada Jackson had 11 rebounds and two points and Sophomore Alexa Singer had three points, while Junior Peyton Wilson finished with two points.
In the J.V. game the Lady Hornets won 56-33 to improve to 8-5 on the year. Sophomore Jenny Young led all scorers with 16 points.
With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 7-9 (2-2 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Thursday, January 23 as they host Williamson.
