The Wellsboro Middle School girls basketball team had a four game win streak snapped as they fell to Coudersport 27-23 Friday afternoon.
Wellsboro had a slow start tonight and were down 9-4 at the end of the first quarter, and that slow start doomed them against a good Coudersport team.
"I was happy with how our girls responded the last 3 quarters," said head coach Darrell Morris. "We fought all the way to the end, and I think we gained some valuable experience, but Coudersport outrebounded us throughout the game and we missed too many close shots. Coudersport played hard and deserved to win."
Lizzie Poirier had a team high 11 points, while Coudersport's Emma Easton had a game high 14 points.
In the B game, the team lost 15-10, but showed improvement against a team that beat them by 20 the first time they played.
With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 5-2. The team will be back in action this morning as they play the winner of Wyalusing/Blue Ridge at 11:00 a.m. in the Wyalusing tournament.
