The Wellsboro Middle School girls basketbal lteam continued their win streak as thet defeated Liberty 37-16 Thursday night.
"We executed our offense pretty well but we continue to miss too many good shots and layups," said head coach Darrell Morris. "We trailed 4-2 at the end of 1st quarter, and made only 17 of 55 shots for the game.
"Many of those shots were layups. Our girls continue to play good team defense and that keeps us in most games, but we have to start finishing at the basket if we are going to compete at a high level down the road."
Sydney Tremper led the team with 9 points, 8 steals, and 2 rebounds. Rachael Tuttle added 8 points and 6 rebounds. Sisters Lizzie and Emma Poirier chipped in 7 and 6 points respectively, while Alyssa Yungwirth had 5 points and Jillian Graver (4 rebounds) 2 points. Elizabeth Johns had 5 rebounds on the night and Brianne Keane had 4 steals and 2 rebounds.
In the B game the Lady Hornets won 18-10.
With the win, the team improves to 5-1. The team will be back in action today as they host Coudersport. The game will be played at 4:00 p.m. in the Old High School gym.
