Hornet softball shuts out Sayre

The Wellsboro Varsity Softball team shut out Sayre 9-0 for their second straight shut out on Tuesday, April 14.
Junior Jenny Young led the Lady Hornets on the afternoon as she went 2-for-5 at the plate with two doubles. Freshman Alyssa Yungwirth was 2-for-4, and Junior Alexa Singer was 1-for-2.
Singer started on the mound and pitched the first two innings striking out three, while Yungwirth pitched the final five innings with eight strikeouts.
In JV action, the Hornets shut out Sayre 22-0 to improve to 2-1.
With the win, the Varsity team improves to 3-1 (0-1 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action today as they host Towanda.
