Lady Hornets struggle against Hughesville in Muncy Rotary Tournament

The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team suffered a 47-24 loss to Hughesville in the opening game of the Muncy Rotary Tournament on Friday, December 9.
The Lady Hornets found themselves up 8-6 after the first quarter behind 6 points from senior Janessa Davis and 2 from junior Lizzie Poirier, but the Spartans turned up the pressure in the second and third quarters and outscored Wellsboro 33-10 to put the game out of reach.
Lizzie Poirier led the way for Wellsboro, scoring 9 points. Davis finished with 6, sophomore Emma Poirier had 4, senior Jessica Grab scored 3, and junior Rachael Tuttle had 2 points and 9 rebounds after getting into foul trouble early in the first half.
Wellsboro (0-1) will now face off against Muncy at 6:30 p.m. in the consolation game.
