Junior Dalton Prough scored a career-high 32 points (7th most all-time in a game) to lead the Wellsboro Varsity Boys Basketball team to a 76-52 win over Northeast Bradford on Tuesday, December 20.

After playing a physical Jersey Shore team on Monday, Wellsboro started sluggish as they struggled to get their shots to fall. Buckets started falling eventually after NEB tied the game up and the Hornets held a slim 13-10 margin after the first quarter. The Hornets finally heated up behind 10 points from Prough in the second quarter to extend their lead to 30-22 at halftime.

Wellsboro outscored NEB 18-17 in the third to open up their lead to 48-39 heading into the final frame. Senior Jacob Singer scored 5 in the quarter, Prough and junior Collin Pietropola both had 4, sophomore Andrew Brelo had 2, and senior Brandon Lamphier and sophomore Brandyn Tuttle each added a point.

Wellsboro exploded for 28 fourth-quarter points to put the game away as the defense wore down NEB. Prough's final 11 points of the night came in the quarter, along with 4 from Pietropola to finish with 14 points for the night.

Singer scored 11 points on the night for this third straight double-digit scoring game, Lamphier and senior Alden Weiner finished with 5 each, Tuttle and sophomore Holden Kennedy had 3, Brelo finished with 2, and junior Nic Ingerick rounded out the scoring with a point.

Prough finished with 8 rebounds, 1 steal, and 2 assists, Pietropola grabbed 7 boards, and Tuttle added 6 off the bench. Lamphier had 5 assists and 5 steals, Singer had 4 assists, and Brelo pitched in 3.

In the JV game, Wellsboo won 44-34 to improve to 4-0 on the year. Brelo led the Hornets with 16 points and freshman Billy Lechler chipped in with 10.

The win improves the Hornets to 5-1 (3-0 NTL Large School Division), and is the 125th win for head coach Todd Outman. The Hornets host Wyalusing on Thursday, December 22.
