WILLIAMSPORT — While there was plenty of drama in the Class AA boys' tournament, locals were making noise in the Class AAA and the girls' Class AA tournaments.
Athens' Nate Kennedy (two day total of 171, plus-29) held on for second in the Class AAA tournament and punched his ticket to regionals early in the day.
Then, at the end of the day, Towanda's Kourtney Dunn (208, plus-62) took the fourth and final regional spot in the girls' tournament to be the first female NTL golfer this century to get past districts.
"It's pretty cool coming in as a junior and doing it," said Kennedy.
"It feels pretty good," added Dunn. "It's a big experience for me as a sophomore."
Kennedy got in by the skin of his teeth, shooting one stroke better than Shikellamy's Brian Snyder (172, plus-30).
Selinsgrove's Roman Reeder (166, plus-24) won the tournament.
Kennedy had the most birdies on the day in AAA with two. That saved him as he only had three pars to go with them.
"I was hoping to shoot the same thing or lower," remarked Kennedy. "I could have played a lot better today."
On Thursday, he shot an 84 and finished with an 87 on Saturday.

The format of tee times and playing with the top players was a new experience for her as well.
"It was different," she said about the play on Saturday compared to the shotgun start on Thursday. "It was definitely different, slower."
She was able get pars on the par-3 10th hole and the par-5 seventh.
"(I just wanted to) play my game," remarked Dunn. "Just do what I always do."
Regardless, her coach Tim Farley could not have been more pleased with her and Tyler Hawley, who made it to the second day in the Class AA boys' tournament.
"I know they're both disappointed with how today went for them, but at the beginning of the year when I asked them to list their goals, Tyler Hawley's number one goal was to make second day of districts and Kourtney Dunn's number one goal was to make regionals," explained Farley. "I felt from day one that those were very attainable goals and they've done that. I couldn't be more pleased."
Hawley shot 97 the second day after shooting an 86 on Thursday.
Both Dunn and Kennedy will be at Golden Oaks Golf Club on Monday, October 16th.
"To get an opportunity to go down and have another new experience with Kourtney is pretty special, too," said Farley. "With them both being sophomores they did nothing but grow today. A heck of a weekend."
