EJ girls shut out Halifax 11-0, win 9 straight games

East Juniata ran their win streak to 9 games with an 11-0 win over Halifax on Wednesday, September 27.

Hailey Swartz scored a hat trick in under four minutes in the first half. Marin Varner scored two goals while Kierstyn Fogle, Thea Neimond, Odessa Groniger, Leah Sankey, Bre Terry, and Amara Brubaker all scored once. Fogle, Sankey (2), and Varner chipped in with assists.

The Tigers took 21 shots on goal and had 4 corner kicks on the night.

Sullivan County 9, St. John Neumann 2

The Griffins' Macy McCarthy scored four goals and collected 2 assists to power Sullivan County past SJN on Wednesday.

Sophia Springman also recorded a hat trick and Bethany Beinlich and Kyler Burke scored during the game. Beinlich and Alexis Randall added assists.

Shayna McNamee scored both goals for SJN, the last being her 50th career goal.

Williamsport 6, Wellsboro 0

Williamsport scored three goals in each half to claim the shutout over the Green Hornets on Wednesday. Samantha Reeder scored 11 minutes into the game then Katie Penman scored back-to-back goals in the 17th and 26th minute to put the Lady Millionaires up 3-0 at the break. Reeder scored a minute into the second half to increase the score to 4-0.

Goals by Madison Bowman and Kathryn Schefsky in the 57th and 73rd minutes brought the game to a close.

Wellsboro was held to just 3 total shot attempts, two by Emma Poirier and one by Alyssa Yungwirth. Sydney Tremper recorded 15 saves in goal during the game while Williamsport's Lila Vogelsong made 2 saves.

Line Mountain 7, Lancaster Country Day 0

The Eagles scored 6 first half goals on their way to a 7-0 shutout on Wednesday. Maura Lundy scored not even three minutes into the game to put Line Mountain up early. Alyssa Lambert, Hannah Ernest, Michelle Ellis, and Veronica Rebuck all added the other first half goals while Lundy, Lambert, and Emily Bingaman assisted.

Bingaman scored the 7th goal for Line Mountain on a penalty kick with 26:46 remaining in the second half.

Autumn Czaplicki and Kerstin Sampsell combined for 3 saves in goal for the Eagles.

Midd-West 11, Shamokin 0

Kelli Beiler recorded a hat trick in the Lady Mustangs' lopsided win Wednesday.

"Our girls were extremely well organized again tonight, and we are ready to get back to business again on Friday," said M-W head coach Lance Burris. "Its unfortunate that Shamokin was missing some keys players, but our girls are really playing good soccer right now on both sides of the ball. It was nice to be able to move some girls around on the field also."

Alyssa Keister started the scoring off with back-to-back goals, then Beiler took over with three of the Mustangs' next four goals. Erin Tompkins, Jenna Paige, Lyndsey Schneck, and Rachel Teats added the remaining goals. Beiler, Schneck, Ariana Rich, Teats, and Rylee Shawver provided the assists.

Midd-West hosts Warrior Run on Friday, September 29 at 7:00 p.m.

Boys Soccer

North Penn-Liberty 1, Northeast Bradford 0

The Mounties' Luke Yoder scored the game's only with 14:03 remaining in the first half on a Nathaniel Johnston assist. Liberty held on the rest of the way to pickup the win.

Riley Walker collected 13 saves in goal for Liberty. The Mounties took 21 shots on goal and 3 corner kicks.
