EJ girls top Susquenita 11-1 in TVL semi-finals

EJ's Kierstyn Fogle recorded a hat trick to help the Lady Tigers win their TVL playoff game with Susquenita 11-1 Tuesday, October 17.

Thea Neimond scored unassisted in the 13th minute to start the route. Brianna Henry and Paige Crissman both scored two goals each while Emily Wert, Marin Varner, and Clarye Guyer scored single goals.

Maddy Coudriet, Neimond, Leah Sankey, Eleana Benner, Crissman, Alyssa Hibbs, and Odessa Groniger all added assists. Lily Sankey made two saves for EJ.

Athens 8, Sayre 0

The Athens girls soccer team beat cross-town rivals Sayre 8-0 on Tuesday, October 17.

Athens took 48 shots, 33 on goal and 15 corners while holding their rivals to just 2 shot attempts. Emily Lunger scored 2 goals while Rachel Hutchison, Abby Sindoni, Morgan Ferguson, Araianna Gambrell, Hannah Blackman, and Krysta Manning all scored single goals.

All Athens goals were unassisted.

Sayre's Camry Lane made 23 saves in goal and Cheyanne Reed stopped two shots.

Wellsboro 11, Williamson 2

The Lady Hornets scored early and often in their win over Williamson during Senior Night on Tuesday.

Not even five minutes into the game, Linda Avery scored off an assist from Kerrah Clymer. Not even a minute later Williamson's Kirsten Green scored off a corner to tie it at 1-1.

From that point on, however, the Lady Hornets went on an eight goal scoring spree. Emma Poirier scored back-to-back goals, the first being a penalty kick with 16 minutes remaining, then again with 12 minutes later as freshman Jena Boyce assisted. Kailee Clymer made it 4-0 with a minute left in the half.

Wellsboro picked up where they left off in the second half with five goals in six minutes. Kerrah Clymer scored the first of her 4 goals of the evening a minute into the half off an assist from sister Kailee, Alyssa Yungwirth scored before Kerrah scored back-to-back goals before Yungwirth's final goal extended the Lady Hornets' lead to 9-1 with 33 minutes still to play.

Williamson's Madi Lee cut the lead to 9-2 with 21 minutes left, but the Lady Hornets were still not done. Kerrah's 4th goal made it 10-2 with 7 minutes remaning, then Luna Alexander capped the scoring with 4 minutes left.

Wellsboro outshot Williamson 39-5 on the night and had a 13-1 advantage in corner kicks. Sydney Tremper made 2 saves in goal while Alivia Kennedy made 1.

Shikellamy 3, Shamokin 1

Shik's Madison Vankirk scored two goals to help the Braves defeat Shamokin on Tuesday. Vankirk scored in the 18th minute to put the Braves up early, then Shelby Young scored in the 20th minute to push it to 2-0.

Shamokin cut the lead in half before the first half ended on a Kaitlyn Dunn goal.

Vankirk's second goal came in the 64th minute to secure the win.

Riley Barrett made 7 saves for Shikellamy and Olivia Haupt made 9 for Shamokin.

Line Mountain 5, Millville 0

Two first half goals led the Lady Eagles over Millville on Tuesday. Maura Lundy started the scoring with 31 minutes remaining in the game off an Emily Bingaman assist. Morgan Keim then scored with 23:07 remaining to make it 2-0.

Line Mountains' second half goals came from Alyssa Lambert, Lacey Snyder, and Michelle Ellis. Lundy assisted on Lambert's goal.

Autumn Czaplicki made 9 saves for Line Mountain while Natalie Henrie recorded 19 saves for Millville.

Boys

East Juniata 2, Lancaster Country Day 0

EJ shutout Lancaster Country Day 2-0 in the Tri-Valley League semi-finals playoff game Tuesday.

The game was scoreless until 24:37 left in the second half when Seth Strawser found the net with an unassisted goal. EJ struck again with 6:54 remaining in the game when Trent Watts scored with Gannon Ryan getting the assist.

Mike Ryan posted the shutout in net for EJ posting 5 saves. EJ outshot Lancaster Country Day 9-5. Lancaster Country Day held the edge in corners 2-0.

EJ plays Greenwood Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Upper Dauphin for the Tri-Valley League championship.
