The Wellsboro Varsity Baseball team's slump continued in an 8-1 loss to Williamson on Monday, April 24.
"Chase Austin of Williamson pitched a good game," said head coach Philip Prough. "Give him credit. We just couldn't square up his pitches tonight."
After a scoreless first inning, the Warriors scored two runs in the second, four in the third, and two in the fourth. The Hornets' lone run came in the fifth from sophomore Taynton Repard. Wellsboro managed only one hit, by freshman Carson Davis in the sixth inning. Junior Dalton Prough drew two walks on the afternoon.
"Too many mental mistakes are happening," Prough continued. "We're giving the physical efffort, but our lack of execution is from not know where to make the right play. Lately, that's ending up costing the 2nd, 3rd and 4th runs of an inning. Which takes us out of a game. We have to improve in that category to get where we want to be."
The loss drops the Hornets to 3-5 (3-4 NTL Large School Division). The team will be back in action later today in a make up game with Sayre.
