The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Soccer team kept their perfect season intact and picked up their sixth straight shutout in an 11-0 win over Troy on Monday, September 25.

The Hornets offense came out firing on all cylinders and scored 10 first half goals. Senior Noah Fitch scored a hat trick, and the game's first three goals, in 14 minutes to put the Hornets up 3-0 with 25 minutes remaining. Senior Tanner Runyan scored the game's fourth goal with 20 minutes remaining, then freshman Kaeden Mann scored back-to-back goals to make it 6-0. Fitch later scored his fourth goal of the game with 7 minutes remaining to make it 7-0.

Mann completed his hat trick to make it 8-0 with 3 minutes remaining in the first before back-to-back Runyan goals, one on an assist from senior Devin Webster and the other on a direct kick, to complete his hat trick and make it 10-0 before the half expired.

The Hornets' final goal came with 34 minutes remaining in the second half as senior Gabe Leach assisted senior Nolan Lohr.

"The boys played great tonight. It was 10-nil at halftime," said head coach John Shaffer. "It's tough not being able to give my starters 80 minutes for fitness but it's good to get younger kids so much experience. Even though we are scoring so many goals the defense is doing a great job of keeping the pressure on the other team and winning the ball back."

Runyan's three goals give him 47 for his career, and he also finished with two assists on the evening. Seniors Nic Ingerick and Gabe Leach, and junior Brett Rudy also had two assists on the evening.

Wellsboro outshot the Trojans 49-2 and had a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. Junior Nate Redell stopped both Troy shots.

Wellsboro won the JV game 4-0 behind two goals from freshman Joseph Grab. Freshman Bayley Wilcox and sophomore Conrad Becker also scored on the night for the team's fourth straight win.

Wellsboro (8-0-1, 6-0-1 NTL) hosts rival North Penn-Liberty this evening for "Callie Strong" Night at 6:00 p.m.
