The Wellsboro Track teams dropped their opening meet to Towanda on Monday, April 10. Towanda's boys team won 114-44 and the girls won 86-74.
In the boys' meet, senior Brandon Lamphier won the javelin (135-ft, 1 in), freshman Alex Burrell (122-ft, 6-in) was third in the javelin, senior Casey Hoover (19.58) was third in the 110m hurdles, senior Devan Warner (58.58) was second in the 400m, and junior Wyatt Dean (25.45) won the 200m.
Senior Dupree Hosey swept the jumping events, winning the long jump (18-ft, 11-in), the triple jump (40-ft, 2-in), and the high jump (6-ft). Freshman Karter Witmer was third in the triple jump (30-ft, 7-in), junior Gabe Leach was second in the pole vault (10-ft), and Lamphier was third in the high jump (5-ft, 10-in).
In the girls' meet, senior Samantha Spurgeon won the javelin (94-ft, 1-in), junior Grace Heckman (19.73) won the 100m hurdles, freshman Kylie Butler (20.11) was third in the 100m hurdles, freshman Caitlyn Callahan (14.52) and junior Cheyenne Sherman (15.23) were second and third in the 100m, and Sherman (13-ft, 3-in) was second in the long jump.
Sophomore Elizabeth Macias (6:26) won the 1600m run followed by junior Anna Bleggi (6:38). Junior Jillian Graver (1:17.0) was second in the 400m followed by freshman Alex Chilson (1:21.0). Freshman Savana Baltzley (58.75) was second in the 300m hurdles, junior Kaitlyne Kramer (8-ft, 6-in) was second in the pole vault, Macias (2:54) won the 800m, Callahan (28-ft, 10-in) won the triple jump, Baltzley (30.72) was second in the 200m, and Bleggi (16:23) was third in the 3200m run.
Senior Hannah Lawton (26-ft, 1-in) was third in the shot put and second in the discus (83-ft, 3.5-in), Spurgeon (81-ft, 6-in) was third in the discus, and sophomore Dahlia Hosey (4-ft, 6-in) won the high jump.
Wellsboro won the 4x800m in 11:19.16 and the 4x100m (56.25).
The teams will be back in action on Thursday, April 13 at the Molly Dry Invite at Mansfield University.
