Lady Hornets top North Penn, Northern Tioga on the track

The Wellsboro Girls Track team swept an NTL meet with North Penn-Mansfield and Northern Tioga on Tuesday, May 9.

The Lady Hornets scored 81 points, Northern Tioga was 2nd with 64, and North Penn-Mansfield was 3rd with 44 points.

Freshman Caitlyn Callahan (13.70) won the 100m and the 200m (26.0), sophomore Zoe Iseri (1:12.10) was 2nd in the 400m, junior Jillian Graver (1:15.30) was 5th in the 400m, freshman Kayla Mengee (3:04.0) was 4th in the 800m, sophomore Elizabeth Macias (6:20.0) was 2nd in the 1600m and 2nd in the 3200m (14:13.0), junior Anna Bleggi (6:37.0) was 4th in the 1600m, senior Chenoa Holsomback (19.7) was 2nd in the 100m hurdles with junior Grace Heckman (20.8) in 4th, and freshman Savana Baltzley (57.9) was 2nd in the 300m hurdles.

Seniors Samantha Spurgeon (87-ft, 6-in) and Hannah Lawton (84-ft, 1-in) swept the discus, Lawton was 3rd in the shot put (26-ft, 1.50-in), and junior Grace Feil (88-ft, 2-in) and Spurgeon (86-ft, 8-in) were 2nd and 3rd in the javelin.

Wellsboro won both the 4x100m relay (56.4) and the 4x400m relay (4:55.6) and was 2nd in the 4x800m (11:48.18).

Sophomore Dahlia Hosey (14-10) won the long jump and the triple jump (33-ft, 65-in), Callahan (29-ft, 10-in) was 2nd in the triple jump, Graver and Hosey (4-ft, 3-in) tied for 4th in the high jump, and junior Kaitlyne Kramer (8-ft, 6-in) was 2nd in the pole vault.

In the boys meet, North Penn-Mansfield won with 80.5 points, followed by Northern Tioga (57.5) and Wellsboro (51). Freshman Silas Wagaman (12.5) was 2nd in the 100m, junior Wyatt Dean (56.3) won the 400m, sophomore Trevor Weaver (2:26.0) was 6th in the 800m, sophomore Aidan Perry (5:11.0) was 3rd in the 1600m and 3rd in the 3200m (11:17.0), freshman Alex Burrell (19.9) was 4th in the 110m hurdles, and sophomore Isaac Wagner (53.6) was 5th in the 300m hurdles.

The Hornets were 2nd in the 4x100m relay (48.9), won the 4x400m relay (3:50.0), and were 2nd in the 4x800m relay (9:29.4).

Perry (77-ft, 6-in) was 10th in the discus, senior Casey Hoover (32-ft, 4-in) was 6th in the shot put, senior Brandon Lamphier (144-ft) was 2nd in the javelin with freshman Austin Richards (117-ft, 10-in) was 4th, senior Dupree Hosey (19-ft, 2-in) won the long jump and won the triple jump (40-ft), senior Gene Wagner (4-ft, 11-in) tied for 5th in the high jump, and junior Gabe Leach (9-ft, 6-in) and freshman Connor Ramsey (8-ft, 6-in) swept the pole vault.

Both teams will be back in action at the NTL Championships at Athens Area High School on Friday, May 12.
