Line Mountain boys soccer wins 2nd straight

Line Mountain picked up their second win of the week after losing 9 straight games by beating Susquenita 6-1 on Thursday, September 28.

Phil Phillips had a hat trick, Josh Foulds scored two goals, and Josh Sgrignoli scored off a direct kick. Phillips and Wesley Long both added assists and Teagon Hepworth made 8 saves in goal.

Midd-West 0, Mifflinburg 0 (2OT)

The Mustangs and Wildcats played to a scoreless draw after no one was able to score after two overtime periods Thursday. Midd-West outshot Mifflinburg 16-4 and had a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Ethan Knepp made 4 saves for Midd-West and Thomas Lichtel made 10 for Mifflinburg.

Girls Soccer

Sullivan County 7, Montgomery 1

Sophia Springman and Macy McCarthy both recorded hat tricks in the Griffins' 7-1 win over Montgomery on Thursday. Savannah Baldwin pitched in with a goal and Stefanie Kramer, Springman, and McCarthy (2) all added assists.

Jessica Umpstead scored Montgomery's only goal.

McKenna Amer (3), Sam DSkoranski (2), and Alexis Randall combined for 6 saves for Sullivan County.

Sayre 1, Northeast Bradford 0

Stephanie Klovekorn scored on a well placed penalty kick with 19 seconds left in first half as Madisyn Wheeler was brought down in the box to give the Lady Redskins the shutout.

"Always a tough game on their field," said Sayre head coach Tracy Mennig. "Camry came up with some key saves tonight."

Camry Lane stopped all of NEB's 21 shots during the night while NEB's Kiah Russell made 4 saves in goal.

North Penn-Mansfield 1, Towanda 0

Vanessa Isaacson scored the Tigers' only goal on a penalty kick with 26:11 remaining in the first half as Mansfield picked up their second straight win.

Mansfield outshot Towanda 14-4. Towanda edged Mansfield 5-3 in corner kicks.

Alaina McKee earned her first shutout of the year by saving all 4 of the Black Knights' shot attempts. Erica Locke made 13 saves in goal for Towanda.

Shamokin 2, North Schuylkill 0

Kaitlyn Dunn and Lydia Deptula each scored a goal to lead Shamokin to their fourth victory of the season. Olivia Haupt made 1 save in goal for the shutout.

The Lady Indians outshot North Schuykill 24-1 and 9-2 in corner kicks.
