Loyalsock, Midd-West, Williamsport earn girls soccer shutouts

District IV girls soccer kicked off on Saturday, with Loyalsock, Midd-West, and Williamsport pulling off shutout victories.

Loyalsock 5, Mt. Carmel 0

Sam Stopper, Jenna Gardner, Charlotte Neylon, Eve Heilenman, and Ariel Hornberger all scored goals for the Lady Hancers in their PHAC-III win. Juliana Cruz, Hanna Knecht, Ana Burdett, Gardner, and Heilenman recorded assists on the day and Grace Schreckengast made 3 saves in goal.

Payton Carl made 5 saves for Mt. Carmel

Loyalsock (1-0) travels up the road to Williamsport on Wednesday, September 6 at 7 p.m.

Midd-West 8, Jersey Shore 0

The Lady Mustangs scored 4 goals each half in the PHAC-I win. Kelli Beiler scored unassisted midway through the first period then Alyssa Keister scored on an assist from Beiler, then Beiler scored two more goals on her way to a hat trick. Erin Thompkins scored at 34:28 in the second period to push the score to 5-0 before Beiler scored twice more to make it 7-0. Arianna Rich scored the game's final goal.

Midd-West outshot Jersey Shore 28-0 and won the corner kick battle 6-1.

Williamsport 3, Central Mountain 0

The Lady Millionaries got goals from Katie Penman, Aaryka Goodwell, and Haley Whitford on the afternoon for the shuout. Madison Bowman recorded two assists and Jenna Whitford added another.

Williamsport outshot Central Mountain 20-2 and had 11 corner kicks during the game.

Montoursville 1, Holy Redeemer 1 (2 OT)

After two overtime periods Montoursville edged Redeemer 7-6 in penalty kicks for the win. The first period was scoreless and after a Redeemer goal early in the second, Montoursville's Maddie McDonald scored in the 77th minute minute to tie it up.

Redeemer edged Montoursville 9-6 in shots and 3-2 in corner kicks. Avery Zales made 6 saves in goal.

Southern Columbia 6, Hughesville 3

SCA scored two goals in the opening nine minutes by Kari Cambria to top Hughesville in PHAC-III action. The Lady Spartans' Morgan Hopkins cut the lead in half at 28:01, but goals by Morgan Marks, Madison Klock, and Paige Sharrow put the game away for SCA. Jayden Leighow and Sarah Pysher, scored Hughesville's other 2 goals.

Hughesville took 29 shots to SCA's 26 and the Lady Spartans had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks. Alex Snyder, Leah Peterman combined for 5 saves in goal for Hughesville while Hailey Reeder and Rilyn Wislowski made 1 save for SCA.

St. John Neumann 3, Millville 2

Gabby Lisi scored 2 goals for SJN in the Mid-Penn League win. Shayna McNamee added the other goal for Neumann.

Alexa Rhine and Kieran Gaydos scored goals for Millville.

Milleville took 43 shots to Neumann's 7 and Millville had a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks. Addy Matz made 40 saves for Neumann and Natalie Henrie made 2 saves for Millville.
