Midd-West girls edge Montoursville

The Midd-West girls soccer team edged Montoursville 1-0 on Monday, October 16 to improve to 15-1 on the year.

"Not all wins are pretty but they are better than loses," said head coach Lance Burris. "We got a bit unlucky with some finishes but overall it was a good defensive effort and a great goal from Jenna."

Jenna Paige scored the game's lone goal with 42:18 left on the clock off an assist from Alyssa Keister.

Midd-West held Montoursville to just 1 shot on the game and 2 corner kicks.

Wellsboro 2, Port Allegany 1

Kailee Clymer opened the scoring for Wellsboro with 17 minutes in the first half as her sister Kerrah Clymer assisted to put Wellsboro ahead. Port came back and tied it up, however, just five minuts later on a Cailey Barnett goal.

The score remained tied until midway through the second half as Alyssa Yungwirth scored the game-winning goal off an assist from Emma Poirier.

The Lady Hornets outshot Port Allegany 23-5 and had 7 corner kicks to their 1. Sydney Tremper made 3 saves in goal.

Line Mountain 3, Northumberland Christian 1

The Eagles got 2 first half goals from Morgan Keim and Alyssa Lambert and another from Lambert with 18 seconds remaining in the game to pick up the win Monday. Lambert and Emily Bingaman had assists.

Emily Garvin scored unassisted for NC with 29:13 to cut the score to 2-1 before Lambert's final goal.

Autumn Czaplicki made 20 saves in goal for Line Mountain while Rebekah Hayner saved 17 shots.

Boys

Montoursville 4, Hughesville 3

Montoursville pulled off an overtime win over Hughesville Monday. Austin Lewis started the Spartans' scoring with 31:12 left in the first half. Montoursville's Dominic Caputo tied it up with 18:59 remaining only to have Lewis score another goal to put Hughesville back up 2-1 with 13:16 remaining.

A Nick Musto goal with 2:51 tied it back up for Montoursville. Justus Leighow put the Spartans back in front with just over a minute left to play.

Hughesville kept their lead until 30 minutes left to play in the second half until Caputo scored again to tie it at 3-all. Later in overtime, Musto scored with 2:01 remaining.

Steven Millheim made 11 saves in goal for the Spartans while Ian Plankenhorn recorded 9 for Montoursville.
