Junior Dalton Prough was named the NTL Offensive MVP and seniors Jacob Singer and Brandon Lamphier were named NTL All-Stars on Tuesday, March 21.
"It is a great feeling knowing that the other coaches in the NTL feel that I am one of the best offensive players in the league," Prough said. "This would not have happened without my teammates and the hard work I have put in over the years. I am honored."
Prough was the Hornets' leading scorer this season, scoring 348 points in 27 games (12.8 ppg). He also led the Hornets in blocks (18), steals (67), and rebounds (172). Prough currently stands at 632 career points.
"Dalton really expanded his game this year," said head coach Todd Outman. "He created numerous matchups problems with his height and ball handing abilities. It's a great honor for him to be recognized by the other coaches in our league. Hopefully this will motivate him to continue to progress and take his game to an even higher level which I'm fully confident he can and will."
Joining Prough on the All-Star team were Singer and Lamphier. Both were Large School Division 1st team selections. Singer was the Hornets' second leading scorer (294 points) and led Wellsboro with 65 three-pointers. Singer finished his career with 120 made three's, ranking him third in Wellsboro boys basketball history.
Lamphier led Wellsboro with 90 assists (137 career), grabbed 86 rebounds, and made 38 steals.
"Brandon and Jake had great years," continued Outman. "Brandon really stepped in for Quinn Henry due to an injury. Without Brandon, we don't have the success we had this year. Brandon's passing and defensive ball pressure really fueled us this year. Jacob continued to progress and get better from last season. He finished with 62 3's this season and finished 3rd all-time with 120 3's. That is pretty amazing since he basically played only 2 years of varsity basketball."
WellsboroBasketball.com would like to congratulate Dalton, Jacob, and Brandon on their selections, and thank them for all their hard work and dedication during the season.
