Sayre's Jordan Rockwell scored 2 goals to move him into 2nd all-time in Sayre scoring history as the Redskins edged Williamson 5-4 in NTL boys soccer on Monday, September 25.
The Lady Tigers picked up their first win of 2017 by doubling up Wyalusing on Monday.
Wyalusing's Hailey Jane put Wyalusing up early in the 16th minute but Mansfield tied it up at 1-1 on an Eva Rice breakaway goal at 29:20. Kiersten Mitstifer scored two minutes later to put the Tigers up 2-1 before the half.
Mitstifer scored her second goal on a breakaway midway through the second to give Mansfield a 3-1 lead. Sarah Bird cut the gap to 3-2 with just under 17 minutes remaining, but a Brooke Knecht goal on a direct kick gave Mansfield their first win.
Mansfield outshot Wyalusing 27-21 and the Lady Rams had a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks. Mansfield's Alaina McKee made 19 saves and Wyalusing's Alexis Schoonover stopped 23 shots.
The Tigers' Thea Neimond recorded a hat trick on Monday. Hailey Swartz and Kierstyn Fogle both scored two goals apiece and Paige Crissman, Odessa Groniger, and Emily Wert all scored in the shutout. Neimond, Wert, and Leah Sankey added assists.
Sankey saved both of Susquenita's shots on goal.
The Lady Wildcats shutout NEB for their fifth win of the year. Rachel Hutchinson recorded a hat trick, Ariana Gambrell assisted on 3 goals, and Abby Segar, Hannah Blackmon, Emily Lunger, Morgan Ferguson, and Abby Sindoni all scored on the night. Ferguson (2), Lunger, and Sindoni assisted on goals.
Hannah Shadduck had 12 saves in goal for NEB while Kara Chapman made 3 for Athens.
"NEB played a great game in tough weather conditions for both teams," said Athens head coach Rich Pitts. "They hit the cross bar twice and put good pressure on us during the game. Our team continues to work toward the final goal of districts by playing very technical soccer in our matches. We have 3 days of recovery before back to back gms this weekend. I'm pleased with our effort and work in a tough environment today on the road."
The Lady Trojans scored 4 first half goals to pick up the NTL win on Monday. Six minutes into the game Troy's Nicole McClelland scored for an early lead. Riley McClellan made it 2-0 with the first of her 4 goals in the 14th minute.
Sayre's Madisyn Wheeler scored two minutes later off an assist from Abby Moliski to cut Troy's lead in half. Troy increased their lead on two goals with under 20 minutes remaining in the opening half. Nicole McClelland scored in the 23rd minute then Riley McClellan scored in the 33rd minute to make it 4-1. Sayre was able to again cut Troy's lead in half as Stephanie Klovekorn scored on a penalty kick with 5 minutes remaining.
Troy then put the game away in the second half they outscored Sayre 3-1.
Nicole McClelland finished with 3 goals for Troy while Klovekorn and Wheeler (2) scored for Sayre. Troy's Brianna Rathbun made 2 saves in goal and Sayre's Blair Wampole made 16 saves.
"We played well despite the score," said Sayre head coach Tracy Mennig. "Troy took advantage of our defense miscues and had speed in front. Blair did really well in goal and came up with some good saves. The girls passed the ball well. I'm pleased with our progress despite the loss."
The Mustangs' Kelli Beiler scored a hat trick in 7 minutes to put Jersey Shore behind the eight ball and down 3-0 early. Beiler scored at 31:59, 37:50 (penalty kick), and 25:00 of the first half. Alyssa Keister scored with 19:05 remaining to take a 4-0 lead at the half.
Midd-West doubled their lead in the second half on goals by Arianna Rich, Beiler, Rylee Shawver (penalty kick), and Kiahna Bingman. Keister, Beiler, and Shawver all had assists on the night.
"Our back line was extremely organized again tonight," said Mustang coach Lance Burris. "Our goal keeping and defensive effort has been outstanding It's a great way for us to start out a 3 game week."
The Seals scored a goal in each half for the PHAC win Monday. Caitlyn Findlay scored both goals unassisted and the Seals held Shamokin without a shot.
The Black Panthers scored the game's lone goal in the first half then held on the rest of the way to pick up a win over Shik on Monday. Alex Yoder (assist Eric Baker) scored at 14:39 for Milton.
"Another close game where we came out on top which is the complete opposite from the 2016 season where we lost many 1 goal games," said Milton coach Eric Yoder. "Shikellamy played us very tough and had some really good shots on goal. Our sophomore keeper Colton Loreman had another big game for us and continues his great season."
Milton's Colton Loreman made 8 saves during the game and Casey Price made 5 for Shikellamy.
Jordan Rockwell scored two goals and dished out three assists and Sam Wheeler scored twice and handed out two assists to lead the Redskins past Williamson. Rockwell's second goal was the 67th of his career, and moved him ahead of 2008 graduate Brian Pinkard into second place on the Redskin career goal scoring list.
Andrew Learn opened the scoring 4 minutes into the game, but Wheeler tied it a minute later off a feed from Rockwell. Learn got his second at the 15 minute mark, but Rockwell tied it at 2-2 a minute later. Cody Vanbenthuysen gave the Redskins the lead 8 minutes later, from Rockwell, to make it 3-2 at the half.
Wheeler got his second 4 minutes into the second half, off Rockwell's third assist and Rockwell got his second from Wheeler for a 5-2 lead. Simon Fish scored two goals to cut the lead to 5-4, but the Redskins hung on for the win.
Camden Wheeler recorded 21 saves for the Redskins and Justin Robins made 3 for the Warriors.
"This is a big win against a good Williamson team, as it evens our record at 5-5, as we try to make a push to qualify for district play," said Sayre head coach Randy Rockwell.
Sayre hosts Northern Potter on Wednesday.
The Hornets scored 10 first half goals en route to a lopsided NTL win on Monday. Noah Fitch scored 4 goals in the game and Tanner Runyand and Kaeden Mann scored hat tricks all in the first half. Nolan Lohr scored the Hornets' second half goal off a Gabe Leach assist.
Wellsboro outshot the Trojans 49-2 and had a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. Nate Redell stopped both Troy shots.
"The boys played great tonight. It was 10-nil at halftime," said Wellsboro head coach John Shaffer. "It's tough not being able to give my starters 80 minutes for fitness but it's good to get younger kids so much experience. Even though we are scoring so many goals the defense is doing a great job of keeping the pressure on the other team and winning the ball back."
