The Sayre Lady Redskins improved to 4-1 (3-0 NTL) by blanking Towanda 5-0 on Wednesday, September 13.
The Lady Redskins improved to 4-1 by shutting out the Lady Black Knights on Wednesday. Kirsten Covey scored in the 8th minute off an Abby Moliski assist to give Sayre an early lead. Stephanie Klovekorn put Sayre up 2-0 five minutes later as she converted a Gabby Randall pass.
Moliski made it 3-0 early in the second on an unassisted goal. Klovekorn and Madisyn Wheeler scored in the 23rd and 24th minutes to finish the scoring for Sayre.
Sayre edged Towanda 21-20 in shots and Towanda edged Sayre 2-1 in corner kicks. Camry Lane (8) and Blair Wampole (2) combined 10 saves for Sayre while Erica Locke (2) and Madisyn Joslyn (6) combined for 8 saves for the Black Knights.
Maidson Burke recorded a hat trick in the Lady Griffins win over NEB. Macy McCarthy, Sophia Springerman (2), and Bethany Bienlich (2) also added goals. McCarthy (3), and Burke, Springerman, Bethany Bienlich, and Leah Bienlich all added assists.
McKenna Amer allowed both NEB goals but made 4 saves in goal for Sullivan County while Samantha Skoranski made 2 saves.
Karalyn Walters and Karissa Cowles both scored for NEB. Walters scored on a corner kick while Cowles scored on an assist from Erika Vough. Kiah Russell made 6 saves in goal in the loss.
The Lady Eagles improved to 4-1 in their overtime win at Juniata. Morgan Keim scored the game's first goal not even 4 minutes into play (36:51) on an assist from Maura Lundy to put the Lady Eagles up early. Juniata's Josie Swartz tied it up at 1-1 with 17:56 left in the first on a Sydney Sheaffer assist.
After a scoreless second period, the game went to overtime where Keim scored the game-winning goal with 50 seconds remaining on an assist from Emily Bingaman.
Autumn Czaplicki made 21 saves in goal for Line Mountain.
EJ took 27 shots on goal against Upper Dauphin and scored on half of their shots in the lopsided win. Hailey Swartz, Kierstyn Fogle, Eleana Benner, Leah Sankey, Emily Wert, Maddison Coudriet, Thea Neimond, Paige Crissman, and Amara Brubaker all scored on the night. Crissman, Neimond, Fogle, Benner, Coudriet, Brianna Henry all assisted on goals.
Fogel had a hat trick on the night.
EJ had a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks and held Upper Dauphin to just two shot attempts on goal. EJ's Lily Sankey made 7 saves.
"The girls played hard, and we were excited to see the intensity pick up from previous games," said EJ coach Valeria Dressler.
The Lady Mustangs picked up the overtime win on an Alyssa Keister goal at 7:58. Keister gave Midd-West the lead with 32:18 left in the first on a Kelli Beiler assist. Cailyn Findlay tied it up two minutes later for the Lady Seals on a Marley Sprenkel assist. Beiler scored with 28:32 left in the second period to put Midd-West back on top, but it wouldn't last as Riley Besker scored to tie it back up with 10 minutes remaining.
The game ended up going into overtime where Keister scored.
"It was a nice conference game to walk away with a win," said Midd-West coach Lance Burris. "Selinsgrove battled extremely hard and played a physical game. We talk all the time about restarts and the importance of them and tonight we finally finished a few. I didn't think we looked extremely sharp but it's a long season and we will continue to get better."
Rachel Hutchison scored six goals and had two assists in Athens’ 13-0 win over NPM on Wednesday.
For Athens, Taylor Reynard had a hat trick, Emma Row and Brooke Warner each had three assists, Arianna Gambrell added one goal and one assist, Morgan Ferguson and Emma Adams each had one goal and Krysta Manning, Sam Merkle and Bailey Dakos each had one assist.
