Two second period goals propelled Shamokin past Central Mountain, 4-3 on Saturday, September 9.
Central Mountain scored in the 7th minute on a penalty kick, but Shamokin tied it at 1-1 on a Lauren Wagner goal from Ciara Tharp in the 17th minute. Shamokin took the lead less than five minutes later on a Tharp goal with help from Sophie Rossnock before back-to-back goals (one from penalty kick) put the Lady Wildcats up 3-2 at the break.
Tharp later tied it for Shamokin at 34:42 off a Kaitlyn Dunn assist, then Chloe Kramer scored the game-winner with 15 minutes remaining.
Shamokin took 23 shots to Central Mountain's 11 and had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Morgan Marks scored the game-winner for the Lady Tigers in overtime to improve to 3-0. Paige Sharrow andKristin Kremser had the two regulation goals.
The Lady Redskins had their two-game winning streak snapped in a non-league loss to Notre Dame. Ellie Mustico (2), Courtney Crater, and Maddie Watts all scored for Notre Dame.
"I'm very pleased with our improvement so far this season," said Sayre coach Tracy Mennig. "We played a great first half. Broke down in the second mentally but held our own."
Sayre took 5 total shots, 3 on goal, and lost 12-0 in corner kicks. Blair Wampole recorded 11 saves in goal.
"We struggled in the first half to connect passes and create chances," said EJ coach Valeria Dressler. "We regrouped at half time and came out much stronger and ready to play. I am very proud of the girls for finding their second wind and pulling off their first win to their season."
Hailey Swartz scored both EJ goals, one at 39:40 and the winner coming in overtime at 86:31. Kierstyn Fogle assisted on Swartz's first goal. Lily Sankey made 8 saves in goal.
Lauren Bull scored the Bluejays goal at 37:20 off an assist on a Gracia Eckenrode corner kick. Allie Swisher made 21 saves.
The Mustangs scored two first period goals in the shutout of Juniata for their fourth win of the season. Cole Sauer, assisted by Devan Leister, scored at 35:49 of the first period then Carter Knepp scored at 25:21 of the second off a Sauer assist.
Midd-West took 16 shots and held Juniata without a shot while winning the corner kick battle 8-3.
The Griffins busted up the Spartans undefeated season thanks to a hat trick from Lucas Shultz for their season opening win. Justus Leighow scored to put the Spartans up then a Brian Lewis goal for the Griffins tied it up. Hughesville's Austin Lewis scored, assisted by Mason Lomison to regain the lead.
Shultz then started his hat trick at 21:33 to tie it back up at 2-2. Another goal by Lewis, with an assist from Leighow, put the Spartans back in front. Shultz then rattled off two more goals to complete the hat trick. The first came at 9:14 to tie it at 3-3 followed by the game-winner at 6:46 on a penalty kick.
Gage Allen scored the Black Knights only goal in a lopsided loss to Tunkhannock.
Collin Cowles scored two goals in the Panthers' second win of the year. Jude Jamp also had a goal in the win.
Jordan Rockwell scored 6 minutes into the game on a free kick for a 1-0 lead, but the Redskins couldn't complete the win. Kevin Valvano scored in the 26th minute and Alex Bradish scored 1 minute before halftime for a 2-1 Elk Lake lead.
Bradish scored halfway through the second half and Rockwell scored with 6 minutes left on a through ball from Alex Krall to complete the scoring. Camden Wheeler recorded 6 saves for Sayre.
"We didn't come out ready to play today and that really hurt us," said coach Randy Rockwell. "We played much better in the second half but couldn't overcome our slow start."
The Redskins host Towanda on Tuesday, September 12.
Aaron Lane scored with 30:25 remaining in the second period off an assist from David Sheftic and the Wildcats' defense held on down the stretch for the shutout victory. Braden Priester recorded 8 saves in goal for the shutout.
Athens and Corning both took 5 corner kicks.
