Hughesville's Rachel Thomas took home the 2017 PIAA District IV singles crown on Monday, October 16 at West Branch Tennis Club.
Over the weekend, Thomas defeated Selinsgrove's Daisy Ettinger 6-0, 6-1; Loyalsock's Jenna Beiter 6-1, 6-2 to reach the semi-finals. Once play resumed on Monday, Thomas defeated Montgomery's Katie Forrestal 6-1, 6-1 to reach the finals against Loyalsock's Katie Savidge.
Savidge beat Montgomery's Abby Stryker 6-0, 6-2 and South Williamsport's Lily Summerson 6-0, 6-0 to reach Monday's semi-final match. In the semi-finals, Savidge defeated Montoursville's Maddy Reeves 4-9, 6-2, 6-3 before facing off with Thomas.
Thomas won Monday's championship match 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
