Wellsboro, Liberty volleyball remain perfect

The Wellsboro Green Hornets and North Penn-Liberty Mountie volleyball teams remained perfect with wins on Thursday, September 14.

Wellsboro 3, Towanda 1

For Wellsboro Caitlyn Callahan had 13 kills, Cheyenne Sherman scored 19 points with 8 aces and made 8 kills and 15 digs. Heidi Zuchowski scored 15 points, Hannah Burnett made 26 digs, Brianne Keane had 35 assists and scored 16 points, and Jillian Graver and Megan Starkweather recorded 7 kills each.

Hannah Chandler had 12 points, and 9 digs for Towanda. Madi Doss had 10 digs, Rachel Bair made 6 digs, and Blaire Wood recorded 6 blocks.

North Penn-Liberty 3, Troy 0

The Lady Mounties cruised in the first set, winning 25-10, but struggled early in the second. Troy capitalized off Liberty’s mistakes to jump out to a 10-4 lead, but eventually Liberty settled down and collected themselves and went on to win 25-15. Again in the third, Liberty cruised and won 25-12.

Leading the Lady Mounties were Savannah Doney, JoAnne McNamara, Charisma Grega and Maddison Minyo. Doney had 3 aces, 11 service receptions, and 10 digs; McNamara recorded 19 assists, 3 aces, and 1 dig; and on offense Grega and Minyo pounded 24 kills together, 15 and 9, respectively.

For Troy, Caitlin DeLosa had 5 points, 1 ace, 3 kills, and 3 digs; Cassie Shedden had 4 points, 1 ace, 5 set assists, 3 kills, 1 block, and 5 digs; and Gabby Bohner had 3 points and 2 digs.

Sayre 3, Northeast Bradford 0

Alia Post had 3 kills and 5 digs in the Lady Redskins win over NEB Thursday. Lexi Post had 1 kills and 6 assists, Julia Boyle had 4 digs and 2 kills, Camryn Brown had 4 digs, 3 kills and an assist, Miranda Tappen had 2 digs and 4 kills, and Claire Shafer had 2 digs.
