Williamsport shuts out Central Mountain, Galeton moves to 3-0

The Galeton Tigers picked up a 5-0 shutout over Towanda to improve to 3-0 in NTL Boys Soccer action on Tuesday, September 5.

Isaiah Shuemaker had a hat trick for the Tigers while Julian Martinez & Jake Cochran added Galeton's other two goals.

Boys Soccer

Williamsport 4, Central Mountain 0

Williamsport's Tiarnan Ferry recorded a hat trick in the Millionaires PHAC-I win over Central Mountain. Ferry's first goal came at 6:54 of the first period, then Caden Fisher scored at 5:11 with an assist from Ferry to make it 2-0 before Ferry scored two more goals, one at 34:59 and the other at 19:19 for the hat trick.

Williamsport edged Central Mountain 6-3 in shots on goal and the Millionaires had an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks. JR Confair had 2 saves for Williamsport.

Athens 2, Wellsboro 2 (2 OT)

Wellsboro got two goals in the first half from Gabe Leach and Tanner Runyan. Athens got two goals, one in the first period, and one in the second, from Luke Arnold as both teams played to a draw after 100 minutes of game play. Brad Cardona also had an assist for the Wildcats.

Williamson 3, Northern Potter 2

Andrew Learn had 2 goals, including the game-winner, and Simon Fish scored for Williamson. Ricky Kunselman and Ezra Sprow had goals for Northern Potter and Foster Kosa had two assists each.

NEB 1, Troy 0

Jude Jampo scored the game's only goal for NEB to shutout Troy.

Girls Soccer

Midd-West 5, East Juniata 1

East Juniata's Thea Neimond scored the game's opening goal with 6:33 remaining in the first period, but after that it was all Midd-West. The Lady Mustangs' Kelli Beiler tied it at 1-1 with 3:30 remaining. Midd-West owned the second half with three quick goals in five minutes brefore adding their fifth goal with under five minutes remaining.

Beiler had a hat trick for Midd-West.

"East Juniata came out with a lot of fire and played a great first half," said EJ head coach Lance Burris. "The 2nd half was a different story. We got 3 quick goals and ended up playing a man down for the last 20 minutes. The girls battled hard and its always a nice game to walk away from with a win."
