Hornet track finishes 2nd to Athens

The Athens Track & Field teams swept a NTL meet at Wellsboro on Monday, April 23.

The Athens boys edged Wellsboro 78-72 while the Lady Wildcats beat Wellsboro 91-54.

In the girls meet junior Dahlia Hosey (13.53) and sophomore Caitlyn Callahan (14.04) were 2nd and 3rd in the 100m, sophomore Savana Baltzley (30.73) won the 200m with freshman Alexis Banik (31.84) in 3rd, junior Zoe Iseri (1:09.96) and sophomore Alex Chilson (1:11.17) were 1st and 2nd in the 400m, and juniors Kara Doane (3:15.59) and Rachel Chamberlain (3:17.7) were 3rd and 4th.

Junior Elizabeth Macias (6:30.01) was 2nd in the 1600m and 3rd in the 3200m (14:04.71), senior Grace Heckman (18.86) and Iseri (20.43) were 3rd and 4th in the 100m hurdles, sophomore Kylie Butler (58.16) was 3rd in the 300m hurdles, Callahan (4-ft, 10) won the high jump, and senior Kaitlyne Kramer (8-ft, 6) won the pole vault.

Callahan (16-ft, 10.25) and Hosey (15-ft, 11.75) were 2nd and 3rd in the long jump, Hosey (35-ft, 9.25) was 2nd in the triple jump, seniors Rebecca Janelli (22-ft, 10) and Abby Feil (22-ft, 5) were 3rd and 4th in the shot put, Janelli (69-ft, 4) and Abby Feil (68-ft, 0.5) were 5th and 6th in the discus, and Abby Feil (86-ft, 8.5) and sophomore Lauren Singer (79-ft, 9) were 2nd and 4th in the javelin.

The Lady Hornets won the 4x100m (53.14) and were 2nd in the 4x00m (4:48.01) and 2nd in the 4x800m (12:22.58).

In the boys meet sophomore Aidan Hauser (11.98) won the 100m with freshman Joseph Grab (12.33) in 5th and Hauser (24.87) was 3rd in the 200m. Freshman Jonathan Wetzel (59.96), junior Bergen Weiner (1:00.89), and freshman Zach Singer (1:02.15) were 2nd-4th in the 400m, freshman Tylar Wright (2:32.73) was 5th in the 800m, junior Aidan Perry (5:16.6) was 3rd in the 1600m and 2nd in the 3200m (12:12.84), sophomore Alex Burrell (17.95) won the 110m hurdles, and sophomore Brennan Warner (46.59) was 2nd in the 300m hurdles.

Wellsboro won the 4x100m (46.8), were 2nd in the 4x400m (3:58.06), and 2nd in the 4x800m (9:59.14).

Junior Holden Kennedy and sophomore Frank Kewitt finished 1st and 2nd in the high jump (5-ft, 6), sophomore Clayton Orsborn (9-ft, 6), senior Devin Webster (9-ft), and sophomore Connor Ramsey (8-ft, 6) swept the pole vault, Hauser (20-ft, 2) won the long jump with Orsborn in 3rd (17-ft, 10), Weiner (37-ft, 7) won the triple jump, junior Hunter Brown (34-ft, 9) was 2nd in the shot put and won the discus (107-ft, 4), and sophomore Austin Richards (133-ft, 10.5) won the javelin with Brown (129-ft, 5.75) in 2nd.

The Hornets (4-3 boys, 3-4 girls) are back in action on Thursday, April 26 at Northern Tioga.
