The Wellsboro Boys Track team finished 2nd and the Girls Track team finished 3rd in a quad-meet at Athens on Tuesday, April 9.
Troy swept both meets during the afternoon. Their boys team won with 107.5, Wellsboro was 2nd with 88.5, Athens was 3rd at 55, and Northeast Bradford was 4th with 24. The Troy girls won their respective meet with 109 points, Athens was close behind with 97, the Lady Hornets were 3rd with 54, and Northeast Bradford was 4th with 4.
For the boys senior Brett Rudy (12.19) and sophomore Joseph Grab (12.4) were 2nd and 3rd in the 100m and Rudy finished 2nd in the 200m (24.14). Senior Bergen Weiner (2:25.77) was 5th in the 800m and 3rd in the 1600m (5:25.96), junior Alex Burrell (18.92) won the 110m hurdles and junior Brennan Warner (19.66) was 3rd. Warner also won the 300m hurdles in 45.87.
Wellsboro finished 3rd in the 4x100m relay (48.14), 3rd in the 4x400m relay (3:55.35), and 4th in the 4x800m relay (10:10.23).
The Hornets swept the high jump with junior Frank Kewitt (5-ft, 6), senior Holden Kennedy (5-ft, 4), and senior Andrew Brelo (5-ft, 4) taking 1st-3rd. Sophomore Anthony Romania (8-ft, 6) won the pole vault, Kewitt (18-ft, 6) was 3rd in the long jump with Brelo (17-ft, 6) taking 5th, and Kewitt (39-ft, 2) and junior Karter Witmer (35-ft, 6.5) were 3rd and 4th in the triple jump.
Senior Hunter Brown (37-ft, 1) won the shot put, the discus (122-ft, 2), and the javelin (145-ft, 3). Junior Austin Richards (134-ft, 8) and Burrell (123-ft, 6) were 2nd and 5th, respectively in the javelin.
for the girls junior Caitlyn Callahan (14.67) was 5th in the 100m, junior Lauren Singer (30.03) was 4th in the 200m with sophomore Hope Sampson (31.88) 6th, junior Savana Baltzley (1:08.63) was 2nd in the 400m, senior Elizabeth Macias (3:01.5) was 6th in the 800m and 7th in the 1600m (6:33.97), and freshman Madeline Bryant (15:02.71) was 4th in the 3200m.
Senior Zoe Iseri (21.04), sophomore Madelyn Rudy (21.14), and sophomore Kathryn Burnett (21.71) were 5th-7th in the 100m hurdles, Rudy (57.78) won the 300m hurdles, and the Lady Hornets finished 3rd in the 4x100m relay (54.6), the 4x400m relay (5:05.9), and the 4x800m relay (12:30.07).
Freshman Lilly Abadi (4-ft, 6) was 4th in the high jump, senior Dahlia Hosey (15-ft, 8.25) and junior Megan Starkweather (15-ft, 5) took the top two spots in the long jump, and Callahan (31-ft, 0.5) was 2nd in the triple jump.
Senior Harmony Benner (27-ft, 3.75) and sophomore Kiyah Boyce (24-ft, 3.25) were 2nd and 3rd in the shot put, Boyce (63-ft, 7) was 8th in the discus with junior Nina Coolidge (61-ft, 8) 10th, and sophomore Breighanna Kemp (72-ft, 9) was 6th in the javelin.
The boys team improves to 3-2 overall while the girls are now 2-3 overall. The Hornets return to the track for their first home meet with the season with Sayre later this afternoon.
