The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Basketball team scored a 64-51 win against Towanda on Thursday, January 23 during Senior Night.
"It was a good team win for the boys on Senior Night," head coach Steve Adams said. "Now we need to prepare for Wyalusing."
The Hornets held a slim 13-5 lead after the opening quarter then began to increase their lead during the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Wellsboro did their most damage of the evening in the 3rd with a 20-point quarter to open up a 51-39 lead heading into the 4th quarter.
Sophomore Liam Manning led all scorers with 21 points, followed by freshman Conner Adams with 17, and junior Joseph Grab with 10. Senior Ty Morral had 8 points, seniors Daniel Mitchell and Andrew Larson added 3 points each, and sophomore Isaac Keane rounded out the scoring with 2 points.
Tanner Kunkle led the Black Knights with 19 points.
Towanda edged Wellsboro in the JV game, 36-34.
The win improves the Hornets' record to 10-7 (7-4 NTL Large School Division) and pulls them within a game of qualifying for the District IV playoffs. The team will be back in action on Saturday afternoon against Wyalusing.
