The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team scored a season-high 67 points in a win over Williamson on Wednesday, January 22.
The Lady Hornets put together back-to-back 20+ point quarters to build a 42-6 halftime lead. As the 2nd half started Wellsboro opened up their lead to over 40 points to enact the mercy rule to go on to win, 67-10.
Senior Cathryn Brought led all scorers with 19 points, junior Bailey Monks had 16, and sophomore Emma Coolidge scored 13. Junior Sarah Mosher finished with 9 points, freshman Jordyn Abernathy had 5 points, sophomore Emma Brandenburg scored 4, and freshman Rylie Boyce rounded out the scoring with a point.
Monks added 5 rebounds and 4 steals, Mosher finished with 8 assists, and Abernathy, Brought, and Coolidge all had 3 steals each.
Wellsboro started off the night with a 28-13 win in the JV game. Brandenburg led all scorers with 8 points.
The win improves the Lady Hornets' record to 6-7 (6-4 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action Friday, January 24 at home with Athens.
