SAYRE — Canton swept Sayre in a rare varsity double-header on Thursday.
In the first match Canton won 3-0 with sets of 25-7, 25-5 and 25-14 while the second match was the same, a 3-0 win of sets of 25-12, 25-16 and 25-11.
In the first set Annie Gaiotti had 12 points, five aces, four kills and three digs for Canton while Gracie Covert had 10 points, six aces, four kills, a dig and an assist.
Aislyn Williams finished with three points, two aces, two kills, two digs and three assists; Jillian Shay had 18 points, 12 aces, a kill and a dig; Allyson Butcher finished with six points, a kill and a dig; Miah Lehman had a point and two kills; Lauren Gleckner added two points, an ace and a kill as Gracie Mead had two points, a kill and three digs.
Rachel Martin finished with four kills and a dig, Jillaney Hartford had two kills with Carmya Martell getting 17 assists to go with two points, an ace and a kill and Trisha Gilbert scooping out two digs.
In the second set Hartford finished with seven kills and two blocks; Gilbert had three points, two aces and two digs; Lehman had two points and three kills with Gleckner getting a point, two kills and a dig and Shay adding five points, six digs and an ace.
Martell had 11 assists, four points, one ace and a kill; Gaiotti had 13 points, three aces, four kills and two digs; Butcher finished with eight points, two aces and seven assist; Williams had five points, four kills and three assists as Covert had four points, an ace, two kills and a dig and Martin had seven points, two aces and two kills.
Maya Larson and Marissa Ostrander each recorded a dig as well.
