The Wellsboro Boys Basketball team held their annual Senior Night game on Tuesday, February 23 against Bucktail and came away with a 68-31 win.
"Great team win tonight," head coach Steve Adams said following the game. "These guys are tight and continue to root for one another and show their team unity. It was nice for Daniel Swanson to get a start on senior night."
The Hornets jumped out to an early lead with a 21-3 first quarter then continued the scoring to lead 41-17 at halftime.
Wellsboro's 2nd string played the entire game with junior Ryan Sweet and sophomore Cameron Brought each scoring a game-high 21 points. Freshman Hayes Campbell added 14 points off the bench and junior Drew Manning finished with 12 points. Four out of the five starters recorded double-doubles as well, with Sweet pulling down 15 rebounds, Brought grabbing 13, Campbell grabbing 12, and Manning adding 10.
Senior Daniel Swanson also added 2 assists and 2 rebounds while sophomore Spencer Wetzel had 3 rebounds and 2 assists.
Wellsboro swept the night as the JV team won 42-31 to improve to 13-2 on the season. Brought led all scorers with 17 points while Campbell and fellow freshman Caden Smith scored 7 points each.
The win improves the Hornets to 13-3 (11-3 NTL Large School Division) to remain in 2nd place behind Troy, who they square off against at home on Thursday, February 25.
