The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team scored their 5th win of the season following a 39-20 rivalry win over North Penn-Mansfield on Monday, February 22.
After holding a slim 4-3 lead after the opening quarter the Lady Hornets outscored the Lady Tigers 12-5 in the second to begin pulling away from Mansfield. Once the second half started, holding a 16-8 lead, Wellsboro outscored the Lady Tigers 23-12 over the final 16 minutes for the win.
Two Lady Hornets scored in double figures on the evening, led by junior Emma Coolidge with a game-high 17 points and senior Bailey Monks with 12. Senior Sarah Mosher added 8 points and senior Kiyah Boyce rounded out the scoring with 2 points.
Mansfield won the JV game, 33-20, to drop their record to 2-9 on the season. Freshman Emily Morris led the young Lady Hornets with 6 points.
The win improves the Lady Hornets' record to 5-7 (4-7 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action on the road at Troy on Wednesday, February 24.
