The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Basketball team improved to 3-0 following a 53-30 win over Sayre on Friday, December 9.
"Good team win tonight," said head coach Steve Adams. "We are doing a nice job as playing like a team and taking what the defense gives us. Our decision making has been solid."
The Hornets jumped out to a 15-8 lead after the opening quarter and ran out to a 27-13 lead at the half. The Hornets then outscored the Redskins 17-2 in the third.
Seniors Peyton McClure and Cameron Brought and junior Hayes Campbell all scored in double-digits with McClure leading with 15 points, Campbell dropping 13 and Brought finishing with 12. Campbell also had double-double with 10 rebounds. Junior Caden Smith finished with 8, senior Conner Adams had 4, and freshman Aaron Kirk rounded out the scoring with one point.
Adams added 5 rebounds and 8 assists, Brought grabbed 9 rebounds, McClure added 4 assists and 3 steals, and Smith made 5 assists and grabbed 3 rebounds.
In the JV game the Hornets won 33-23. Wellsboro got 10 points out of Kirk, 9 out of sophomore Owen Stevens, and 7 from Jonathan Carl.
