COAL TOWNSHIP — Cierra Adams' double-double, and the Selinsgrove defense helped the Seals post a 42-27 victory over Shamokin in a key Heartland Athletic Conference-Division I matchup.
Selinsgrove (12-3 overall, 10-2 HAC-I) ended Shamokin's five-game win streak and pulled the division-leading Indians (13-3, 9-2) into a three-way tie in the loss column with Shikellamy (13-5, 11-2) atop the HAC-I standings.
Adams had eight points and seven rebounds before halftime to help Selinsgrove to six-point lead.
Avery DeFazio scored six of her 12 points in the third quarter as the Seals built a 13-point lead when Haylee Nava found Adams for layup late in the quarter.
Selinsgrove allowed 46 poinits in a loss to Jersey Shore on Jan. 8, and have allowed more than 30 just once in the last seven games.
