Hornet Track Teams Sweep Towanda, Fall To Troy

The Wellsboro Track swept Towanda and fell to Troy in a league tri-meet at Troy on Tuesday, April 18.

Against Towanda the boys won 106-37 and the girls won 78-61. The Lady Trojans beat the Lady Hornets 84-65 and the Trojans beat the Hornets 96-54.

Troy also swept the Black Knights, with the boys winning 120-29 and the girls winning 77-68.

For the boys, junior Dillion Boyce was 3rd in the 100m (12.02) and 3rd in the 200m (25.14), freshman Jonathan Carl (55.67) won the 400m, freshman Jude Cuneo (2:20.7) was 2nd in the 800m, freshman Max Macias (5:11.29) was 2nd in the 1600m, freshman Henry Whitney (13:41.08) was 3rd in the 3200m, sophomore Micah Vickery won the 110m hurdles (17.44) and was 2nd in the 300m hurdles (47.87).

Wellsboro was 2nd in the 4x100m (48.81), 2nd in the 4x400m (4:10.87) and 3rd in the 4x800m (10:05.56) relays.

The Hornets swept the high jump with senior Kyle Mosher (5-10) Vickery (5-ft, 4) and sophomore Alex Citrino (5-ft, 4) taking 1st-3rd. Boyce (18-ft, 3.5) was 3rd in the long jump, senior Aden Tom (32-ft, 4) was 2nd in the triple jump, and sophomore Gabe Carpenter (9-ft) was 3rd in the pole vault with teammate Spencer Wetzel (9-ft) in 4th.

Senior Wyatt Gastrock (110-ft, 10) and junior Noah Morey (110-ft, 1) took the top two spots in the discus, junior Watson Feil (125-ft, 11) won the javelin, and Gastrock (33-ft, 10) was 7th in the shot put.

In the girls meet, senior Kate DeCamp was 5th in the 100m (14.95) and 2nd in the 200m (31.6) with teammate Maddy Mascho (32.41) in 3rd, senior Madeline Gage was 2nd in the 800m (2:55.93) and 2nd in the 1600m (6:18.14), junior Madison Robbins (17:33.14) and sophomore Emma Mosher (23:19.92) were 2nd and 3rd in the 3200m, freshman Kristina Belz (21.87) was 4th in the 100m hurdles, and junior Sara Seeling (56.76) was 3rd in the 300m hurdles.

Sophomore Annie Gehman was 2nd in the high jump (4-ft, 8) and won both the long jump (14-ft, 1) and the triple jump (31-ft, 3.75), senior Ella Posada (12-ft, 0.75) was 3rd in the long jump, senior Alyssa Bisbing (26-ft, 6.5) was 2nd in the triple jump, and freshman Brooke Wheeler (5-ft, 6) was 5th in the pole vault.

Junior Hannah Gilmour (81-ft, 10) won the discus with junior Hannalee Cleveland (65-ft, 3) in 3rd, Seeling (67-ft, 6) was 3rd in the javelin, and junior Grace Harlan (26-ft) and Gilmour (23-ft, 8) were 2nd and 3rd in the shot put.

Wellsboro was 3rd int he 4x100m relay (1:00.84) and 2nd in the 4x800m relay (13:58.18).

The Hornets return home next Tuesday for a tri-meet with Northeast Bradford and Williamson).
