The Wellsboro Varsity Wrestling team dropped a 45-30 NTL Wrestling match to Williamson at home on Tuesday, January 11.
The Hornets started out the match with a pin fall win by sophomore Alec Magli at 113 lbs. over Wyatt Dacheux, but then the Warriors rattled off three pin fall victories at 120 lbs., 126 lbs., and 132 lbs. to take an 18-6 lead.
Sophomore Will Gastrock broke that three-match drought with a 3:59 pin over Blaine Link at 138 lbs.
Williamson then took back over, winning the next three matches before sophomore Ryder Bowen (172 lbs.), senior Wyatt Gastrock (189 lbs.), and freshman Hayden Stevens (215 lbs.). Bowen and Gastrock won by pin fall, Stevens won via an injury default.
Williamson then took the 285 lb. and 106 lb. matches to secure the win.
In the Junior High match, Williamson won 66-18. Wins by the Hornets came from Bradyn Fenstermacher at 108 lbs., Jayden Dumm at 170 lbs., and Conner Bacon at 190 lbs.
The loss drops the Hornets to 1-6 (1-4 NTL). The team is back in action on Thursday against Loyalsock in a non-league match.
