The Wellsboro Varsity Wrestling team dropped a 63-9 league match to Troy on Tuesday, January 17.
The Trojans opened the match winning the first three bouts at 145 lbs., 152 lbs., and 160 lbs., until sophomore Ryder Bowen pinned William Steele in 3:43 at 172 lbs. Senior Wyatt Gastrock followed Bowen's momentum at 189 lbs., scoring a 5-1 decision against Kael Millard.
Troy then took the remaining 8 matches of the evening.
In the Junior High match, the Hornets almost pulled out a win, but ultimately fell 35-24. Three of the Hornets' four wins came via forfeits for Bradyn Fenstermacher (108 lbs.), Jayden Dumm (170 lbs.), and Conner Bacon (190 lbs.). At 145 lbs. Wyatt Kilburn scored a 47 second pin fall against Wyatt Chaapel.
The loss drops the Hornets' record to 2-7 overall and 1-5 in the NTL. The team is back in action tomorrow evening at Towanda.
