The Wellsboro Varsity Wrestling team suffered a 64-3 loss to Towanda on Thursday, January 26.
The Black Knights rattled off 11 straight victories to start the match, picking up 7 pin falls, 2 forfeits, 2 decisions and one major decision.
Wellsboro's lone win of the match came at 215 lbs., where freshman Hayden Stevens scored a 7-3 decision over Tristin Conklin.
"Our wrestlers went out and competed tonight against a well coached and talented Towanda team," head coach Bryce Bitner said. "I think it showed a lot of growth from some of our wrestlers and areas of improvement we need to clean up. I'm proud of the way we went out and wrestled hard tonight."
In the Junior High match Towanda cruised to a 75-6 victory, handing the Hornets their 10th loss of the season. The Hornets' lone victory came by Jayden Dumm, picking up a 47 second pin fall against Aiden Davis.
The loss drops the Hornets to 3-8 (2-6 NTL). The team is back in action on Monday at Addison, NY.
